Mrs. B's Quilt

Now that the gift has been delivered, and the baby girl is being anticipated, I can show you the secret project I worked on for my sons' teacher.

I used up my stash of Auntie Grace that I had been holding onto for years!  I love 30s fabric, but hate to cut into it.  I hand pieced, appliqued, and hand quilted the whole thing.  It has a poly batt and is a bit stiff now, but after a few washings it should be just fluffy and soft.

I wanted to sew posies around the outside but sould not find a template to print, so circles it was.

Planning on linking up to a few of my favorite quilt blogs this week:

I'd love for you to leave a comment or say hi if you stopped by!  Thanks, and have a great week.

Second Butterfly Quilt Finished

My second modern baby butterfly quilt is finished and up for sale on etsy...
It uses a lot of the same fabrics as the first one, but is made in a nine-patch pattern with black and pink as the focal colors.
I'm so glad to finish this off, as the needle I was using kept poking my little fingers, boohoohoo.
Hope you enjoy looking and I'd love some positive feedback.

Hoping to link up with some other quilty friends this week at...A Round Tuit, Skip to My Lou, Fabric Tuesday, Show and Tell Tuesday, Sew Cute, WIP Wednesday, Needle and Thread Thursday, Let's BEE Social, Can I Get a Whoop Whoop, and Finish It Up Friday.

Happy Halloween to all who celebrate.

October 31st has rolled around again.  This year is really going fast!
I have finished the teacher quilt, and need to figure out where I took a photo of the finish at to post for next week.
I am working on my second Frozen quilt for etsy, that one should post soon.
And as a family, we are working on a HUGE church project that will not go live until the new year, but plans behind the scenes are moving right along.

Hope you have a very productive and happy weekend.  Our weather is calling for some flurries in the morning!  Much too soon for my liking.

Quilt for my good friends' grand-daughter

Here's the look at the finished quilt for MJ.  Sure wish I could go to the beach and deliver it myself.
I made little pictures in the white rectangles, and used up some scraps to make the crazy patches.  I hand sewed it all, and hand quilted it.  Lots of loving stitches in this one.

Linking up this week to:  Show and Tell Tuesday, Fabric Tuesday, WIP Wednesday, and Finish it up Friday.

The Bee Work

A sewing I did go.  I got to sandwich my sons' teachers' quilt... and I started on a new frozen quilt.

In the usual super secret way, because you just never know when your friend is going to drop in on your blog...I did get the hand-quilting finished on my friend-at-the-beach's quilt and cut binding and am hand-attaching it.  Yup, this one has been ALL by hand.

Sewing Bee

I (hope) I am going to a sewing bee tomorrow!
I have sew much to work on, I haven't even packed my bag of projects to take.  I just can't decide what to focus on.  I think I need to layer and baste the baby quilt for my sons' teacher first.
And cut out another Frozen quiltie - because the first one SOLD!  I did it!  I sold my first quilt on etsy.  I did a very happy jig.  That should really take up all my time and space in my project bag.  Along with lunch, it's a brown bagger day.
I'll post photos tomorrow, if I get to go!

Handworking

Lots of it!  I'm appliqueing posies to the border of a baby quilt I am working on my sons' teacher.  I need to get it done before she goes out soon on mat leave.

So the second installment of the dizzy flutterbies quilt has been set aside for the moment.  As has my friend at the beachs' quilt for her granddaughter.

So many stitches, so little time!

Charity Quilt Request

Hi ya'll!  A quick note to ask for any scraps you mights have that are at least 2.5" square.  The ladies in our church are starting to make cancer quilts for friends of our members, and we have only my stash to sew from.  We'd really like to have some other choices and would appreciate any cottons you would care to send.
I've got plenty of Christmas fabric and baby fabrics, but not a lot of anything else.
Please share this post with your friends who might be willing to send us an envelope or box full to get us started.
We're hoping and praying to get hooked up with the community service club at the high school next, and start a new generation of quilters.
Thanks so much.

I'm trying to get all my current projects organized.  I'm not doing a great job of it.  I just keep hopping from one to another and not finish any of them.

My son is working on a fall table runner for me to quilt.  We went on two nature walks, gathered leaves, painted them, stamped them on muslin, and now I need to sew it to some burlap and add a border.  That's just one project.  Isn't he a cutie?

New quilt on etsy

Hi all!  We have listed a new quilt.  It is a Disney Frozen Sisters quilt with pink and purple four patches.  It is a simple quilt that focuses on the Disney fabric.  I hope you take a minute to check it out.  Etsy ID whatknotgirlsinpa.

This one is machine pieced.  I'm still trying to become confident with my machine work.  I need lessons I think.  Or just a shot of confidence.

Promote us whenever you have a chance.

Name that mini

I posted my quilt to my fb friends and asked for a name.  Some were doozies, but I think we came together on "Dizzy Flutterbyes".  What do you think?

I had some scraps left over, so I'm thinking of making a companion piece.  I just have to find that perfect sashing.  Off to the stash we go!

Hope you have a wonderful day and stop over to see the jewelry my daughter made in our etsy.
Look us up as whatknotgirlsinpa.

Happy first day of fall!
